The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award - Canada

MHO Adventures is proud to partner with the The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Canada to offer youth the opportunity to build leadership skills through both open enrolment and custom trips at all three Award levels. An expedition with MHO Adventures is the perfect way to accomplish your goals for the Awards Adventurous Journey.  Being a part of an MHO Adventurous Journey expedition means that you will take ownership over your learning and participation. Our staff are keen to share their knowledge and experience and always look forward to our Award trips as an opportunity to connect with youth and expand their skill set. "May every drip of your paddle lead towards a rediscovery of yourself, of your canoeing companions, of the wonders of nature and of the unmatched physical and spiritual rapture made possible by the humble canoe - Pierre Elliot Trudeau"

GOLD – French River

The French River Provincial Park consists of beautiful scenic wilderness created by 105km of interconnecting lakes and gorges, rapids and swifts that provide a wide variety of water routes. Due to the rich history of the French River it is recognized as a Canadian Heritage River and is one of the most historically significant rivers in Ontario. Our instructors will teach you how to navigate through fun class 1 rapids and give you the knowledge you need to advance your canoeing skills.

As the final Adventurous Journey in your Award experience, this trip is perfect for honing the skills you have learned on your Bronze and Silver Adventurous Journeys. You will have plenty of opportunities to practice skills you might not have done since your last Adventurous Journey such as cooking and baking over a fire, or tarp set up. This is your chance to challenge yourself, and improve your leadership skills in a fun and safe environment.

We acknowledge that the French River Provincial Park is located on the traditional territories of the Mississauga and Anishinabek Nations and is recognized under both the Williams (1923) and Robinson-Huron (Treaty 61, 1850) Treaties.  We recognize that we are visitors to this land.

    Brilliant Food

I’ve just paddled the Missinaibi with Paul Kirtley.  Your food was absolutely amazing - we might be away from some luxuries of life, but definitely did not miss out on quality food.  The variety was fantastic. Thank you very much. It was brilliant, as was the whole outfitting setup.
