Few rivers can match the power, beauty and history of the Missinaibi. From its source at Missinaibi Lake, the river rushes 350 miles North to James Bay, over Precambrian granite, through string bogs and marshes, and all within a Provincial Park.
This trip is a combination of our Upper Missinaibi AND Thunderhouse Falls Fly Out trips. Spend 2 weeks running over 30 sets of rapids and camping every night beside the roar of cascading falls and rapids on this Canadian Herritage River.
Our guided trip catches the river at the ghost town of Peterbell (accessible only by train), and over 100 miles of river, we drop 300 feet, we then continue on for the first 50 miles of the Lower Missinaibi past the last road at Mattice. We slowly make our way to Thunderhouse Falls. The campsite at Thunderhouse is spectacular, perched 150 feet above the cannon, here, time is spent marveling in the natural beauty of Thunderhouse, swimming and fishing. Below the falls, the river drops 300ft in a single day, as the Missinaibi plummets off the Canadian Shield and onto the Hudson Bay Lowlands. Our final night together is spent at Bull Moose Bay, camped beneath the towering clay banks of the Lowlands. We will be picked up in the morning by float plane.
Although the pace is relaxed enough to allow for whitewater instruction and plenty of relaxation time, this trip does require an intermediate level of general fitness with a few longer days on the water. Truly, one of the best ways to experience one of the world’s great heritage rivers!

I’ve just paddled the Missinaibi with Paul Kirtley. Your food was absolutely amazing - we might be away from some luxuries of life, but definitely did not miss out on quality food. The variety was fantastic. Thank you very much. It was brilliant, as was the whole outfitting setup.
