Program Overview
The Recertification course is open to graduates of all wilderness medical training courses of 70 hours or longer with a current Wilderness First Responder certification. Students will review essential skills, wilderness protocols, and updates in wilderness medicine.
Successful graduates of this course will receive Wilderness Medical Associates’ Wilderness First Responder, Anaphylaxis, and BLS/Healthcare Provider-level CPR certifications.
WEMT graduates with a current EMT-B or Paramedic certificate may also recertify the wilderness portion of their WEMT with this course.
This course option requires students to review their textbooks and field guides and complete an online exam as preparation followed by 3 days of in person instruction. Students are expected to perform at the WFR level on day 1.
Courses are run as a Licensed Training Provider with Wilderness Medical Associates International, the leading provider of wilderness medical training around the world. Certifications are internationally recognized.
Food & Lodging
Our MHO Base sits on 20 acres of forested land just 15 minutes south of Huntsville, with Mary Lake only a short walk away. Students can enjoy a swim, take in the sunrise or sunset from the beach, or explore nearby trails for running, biking, or walking. Evenings often end gathered around the fire pit — a perfect spot to relax, share stories, and connect with nature.
We offer a range of comfortable onsite accommodation and meal options during courses:
Accommodation Options
- Tent Camping – $60 for the duration of the course. Please bring your own camping gear.
- Shared Bunkie – $45/night
- Private Bunkie – $125/night
Each bunkie includes two single bunks, a double loft, a couch and small coffee table. They’re heated and equipped with battery lanterns and charging banks— a cozy option for those who prefer a solid roof after a full day outdoors. (Rates are reduced from our standard $195/night rental for course participants.)
If you prefer, our neighbours at Muskoka Bible Centre (MBC) offer motel-style rooms just a 10-minute walk away. MBC provides a 15% discount on regular rates outside of July and August. To book directly, call 705-789-0123.
Meal Options
- Full Meal Plan (3 hot meals per day) – $225
- Hot Lunch Only – $75 (for commuters)
Home-cooked meals are prepared onsite and enjoyed family-style. Please note that cooking facilities are not available for individual use.
