Everything was delightful - the beautiful river, the soul-refreshing serenity of the wilderness, our three highly competent, fun and caring guides Meredith, Ian and Bethany (who ultimately made us all feel bonded like family), the fabulous food, the trip the the Cree Village at Moose Factory, Michael and the trip to James Bay and finally the train ride from Hell on the Polar Bear Express. The latter definitely gave us an unexpected adventure that added some final spice to the the mix. I'm telling all my friends about what a great once-in-a-lifetime experience it was. In some ways it feels like I dreamed it now that I am home and dealing with all the day-to-day stuff again, but I have the pictures to prove it was real and the memories to cherish. Thank you so much for blessing our lives in such an unforgettable way.
While I’m really looking forward to sleeping in my clean, comfy bed (especially with the storm on the horizon....had to work thru some PTSD on that), I would be lying if I said we are not feeling a bit homesick for another night in the woods with you all. We spent a large chunk of our drive home reminiscing about what a fantastic week that was.
So grateful for this experience!
I just want to say that MHO Adventures is a top-notch company in every aspect and I hop that I can send more people your way in the future. Cheers!
MHO is awesome, and I'm so grateful for an incredible French River trip!
At the top of my list of things to celebrate this year was our magical escape to the beautiful Missinaibi & the joys of great friendships, old and new.
Thank you both so much for the wonderful trip. You were both such incredible, thoughtful guides. I am grateful for the time/effort and care you put into the gluten free food. Thank you for continuing to drive my love for MHO trips!
We made it safely home to San Diego and wanted to thank you all again for a truly fantastic trip on the Missinaibi. On a personal level, the last few years have been tough for a variety of reasons, and to be off the grid, using my body instead of sitting at a desk, immersed in nature... was so very healing and grounding and joyful. A perfect reset.
Fantastic trip. Already recommended it to several friends.
An excellent facility and great staff. The main barn is set up excellently for courses and pack outs, and the food is amazing. Will definitely be doing more courses and re-certifications there in the future.
I enjoyed the attention that the management (Erin and Matt) made to making sure we were well taken care of. The hospitality was excellent, the quality of the equipment was excellent and your choice of guides was commendable.
Erin…what a spectacular venture you have set up. We could not have had a better experience anywhere; we both had such a wonderful time. What your team does is the most comprehensive version possible of next level camping. I’m already looking forward to going again! Your staff/team are exceptional., professional, personable and generally fascinating I realize you’re aware;) but I wanted to validate what you already knew:) Thank you, in every possible way, for extending an invitation that guaranteed us a chance to be introduced to the tripping experience MHO Adventure offers. We look forward to next time, and deeply hope that it will be sooner than later!!!
We just got back from our family trip on the Moose river. It was OUTSTANDING. Our guides, Darwin and Michael were world class.
The scenery and wildlife were amazing. Our whole family had an incredible time and will have memories and experiences that will last a lifetime. Couldn't have been better organized and more professional. Thanks again and we look forward to the next adventure!!
The highlight of the trip was the make-up of the group. I felt very lucky to have had a group that got along very well. I also was very impressed with the organization, equipment, and preparedness of the company. In terms of equipment, I came on the trip wondering if your canoes and tents would be very good. They were; I would advertise that if I were you.
The food exceeded my expectations. I was very impressed that there was little or no "processed food" and virtually every meal was different, tasty, wholesome and interesting. One night, we were given the challenge of making our own calzones, which was a lot of fun.
My staff might threaten to mutiny without the hummus and black bean dip. They're our most popular spread for lunchtime meals.
For the record, Joey is one of the most capable and engaged guides I have ever paddled with.
Wonderful guides: Joey and Anna. Continuous swifts and Class 1 - 3 from Bonaventure Lake to Chaleur Bay were lots of fun. Unbelievably clear water! Thoroughly enjoyed getting to know fellow paddlers from Canada and the US, and being able to take along my 7-year old grandson. Equipment was first class. Meals were excellent. Weather cooperated. Thank you MHO for my 6th trip since 2010. Will be back for more another summer.
We all had an excellent time on the trip. Claire and Arthur did a first rate job. The river and length were just right for our family group. It was honestly one of the best weeks I've ever had with my children and I hope it inspires them to a life of canoe tripping. We are already talking about next year (Missinaibi? Moose?)
Feedback on the trip is almost entirely positive. Food was excellent. We appreciated the variety, complexity, and daily baking. Good meals go a long way to keeping a crew happy and you guys nailed it. Gear (except that my paddle was short) was all first rate. Guides were top notch. Logistics smooth.
Experiencing an MHO guided trip was the adventure I didn’t know I needed. Gourmet food cooked over the campfire, surrounded by beautiful Ontario scenery and incredibly knowledgeable guides. What more can you ask for?! Thank you Erin & Sam for an amazing and unforgettable time!
Just want to tell you both Sam and Greg were excellent guides (Dumoine trip 1st week of august). I was impressed by how hard they worked and their great attitude. Had a great time!
That was one of the best trips I have ever taken! Your outfit is premier, and the professionalism was EXCEPTIONAL!! SO WAS THE FUN AND ADVENTURE!!! Can't thank all of you enough for everything! Looking forward to another adventure with you.
I was very happy with the trip. The guides were absolutely fantastic! I've been wanting to do the Missinaibi River for years and I'm glad that I went with MHO. Thanks.
I just finished unpacking from the Noire River trip and wanted to send a huge THANK YOU for this opportunity to try a trip with MHO. I really had no idea what to expect (although I was very excited leading up to it!) but this week was just amazing. I learned so much from Jake and Micah and had a great time with everyone on the trip. This was definitely just the first of many more whitewater trips in my future as the rapids are so much fun! I only have 1 word to describe my trip and that is incredible! Thank you so much for this opportunity!
One word to describe our experience with MHO: Perfect.
We all had an amazing trip with Sam and Greg. Those two were a well organized machine working so seamlessly together.
Just wanted to thank you again for an amazing trip. I speak for all of us when we say we had the time of our lives on the Missinaibi. Our MHO guides are responsible for this. Not only were they great guides in every sense of the word, but they were first class chefs, amazing teachers, and tons of fun to be around. Every one of us has said how much we miss them since finishing the trip.
Both guides were very passionate about the wilderness and about making the trip enjoyable for all of us. They were clearly knowledgeable about all aspects of the trip and executed everything to a tee...the leadership, the training of the clients, attention to safety measure, food preparation and respect for and care of the environment.
MHO is very careful about the environment (no soap in the river, toilet procedures, burnable food waste etc) and does its bit to ensure the route remains clean, even to the point of hauling out other campers' garbage. Clearly MHO is actively lobbying the Ontario government to invest in park maintenance and make other improvements. It seems to be paying off with the appearance of an MNR crew that was cleaning up camp sites and portages when we were there. Very impressive.
Yes, let's chat. But to be clear, I didn’t have a “good trip,” I (and we) had an amazing trip!
In the throes of PD.
Just wanted to say…Thank You!!!
MHO did an outstanding job across the board: gear, food, guide, logistics…awesome.
We had a great trip with Sam and Jake. They did a great job of hosting us, teaching us, and keeping us safe. They are both outstanding guides. Sam was an amazing lead, incredible host and literally leapt to the safety of my wife. Jake is a great paddler, great host, and is wonderful and patient with children. The food was excellent. We all loved the experience and everything MHO brought to this experience.
Erin, I expect that you have had a report about our trip from Emy and Noemie. I hope they enjoyed themselves as much as we did. They were superb guides who worked nonstop to make our family trip memorable. They were diplomatic and not intimidated by our group which included some experienced outdoor enthusiasts. Brenda and I have paddled the Dumoine 4x’s before going back 43 years!. Not easy to please everyone all the time and maintain discipline with a group notorious for individualism. The analogy to herding cats would not do credit to their skills to lead while gently but firmly set standards. It didn’t take long for them to win over the family. Not every day that a guide has the challenge of managing very small children with older grandparents, one of whom was hardly able to walk just a few weeks before. Hats off to them and to their employers' staff selection and training.
The arrangements and cuisine were also flawless and memorable.
The last comment from my son today at YYZ was ‘best visit home ever”! That is saying something.
Thank you and hope to travel with MHO again.
Thank you for your nice card, which I received yesterday. And thank you again for making 2015 one of the best years of my five decades!
We wanted to reach out and thank you for an unforgettable experience over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The opportunity to canoe through the Temagami area with such delicious food was something we will never forget. Your guides Sam and Pat were absolute machines and we had an amazing time with them. Please pass on our thanks to them once again. We felt truly spoiled with all the food they cooked for us, we don't even eat that well at home! We cannot thank you and MHO enough, and we would love to express our thanks by promoting MHO through our social media as best we can.
I’ve just paddled the Missinaibi with Paul Kirtley. Your food was absolutely amazing - we might be away from some luxuries of life, but definitely did not miss out on quality food. The variety was fantastic. Thank you very much. It was brilliant, as was the whole outfitting setup.
Highlights are the overall experience, and terrific guides
We all had an amazing adventure thanks to the three of you. We sang your praises the entire time we were out on the river and did so all the way home. You have an incredible company and your passion for what you do shines through in the high quality trips you organize and lead. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Kyra has been amazing. I have so much praise for her and the MHO ethos which is so special and comes through beyond comparison. I am looking forward to future MHO trips.
