Adventure Overview
Join us on an adventure designed for artists eager to immerse themselves in the unrivalled beauty of the Canadian wilderness.
Temagami is a vast swath of land, nearly 2000 square kilometres, in Northern Ontario. As far as protected areas go, this region is a unique blend of Provincial Parks, Conservation area, and crown land. On this journey we will paddle through deadwood creeks, seemingly untouched lakes, and down a narrow winding river, all while base camping on beautiful Wasaksina Lake. Our friendly guides will take care of meals and various camp duties, allowing participants to fully dedicate themselves to capturing the breathtaking Temagami landscape using their preferred mediums.
Artists of all skill levels are welcome, though some prior painting experience is highly recommended. This is not a formal workshop, but a seasoned artist, Ryan Hill, will be available to offer guidance to those who seek it. Our goal is for everyone in the group to support each other in experiencing artistic growth over the trip. Along with ample painting opportunities, we will also hold optional daily critiques and fireside discussions focused on various aspects of plein air painting.
“Good landscape paintings offers people a strong sense of the places they depict. From its home on your wall, I hope my work can instill that same sense of ease found in the natural world.” – Ryan Hill
We acknowledge that the Temagami region is the traditional territory n’Daki Menan, home of the Teme-augama Anishnabai, and the Temagami First Nations . There are many territories in this region recognized under the Robinson-Huron Treaty (Treaty 61, 1850), however the Teme-augama People were not represented at this treaty signing. We recognize that we are visitors to this land.
